Johannesburg airport has two terminals and a free shuttle service operates to allow for travel between them. It is officially known as O R Tambo International Airport.

Facilities

The airport has a long and short stay car park. There is also a free shuttle bus service between the furthest car parks and terminals.

Information and help desks are located in international and domestic arrivals as well as international departures.

There are banks, ATMs and bureau de change at the airport. Mobile handsets are available to borrow and wireless internet has been set up in the International Departures area.

There are numerous varieties of food and drink outlets, including bakeries, steak houses, coffee shops and juice bars. A duty free mall is among other amenities where tax free products are sold and some high street shops keep the airport buzzing as well.

A left-luggage facility is available in the underground car park. Porters can be recognized in their orange uniform, and it is recommended that they be tipped for their services.

The airport also has its own medical clinic, Islamic prayer room, chapel and baby changing facilities. A Business Centre with complete office and secretarial facilities is available as is a Premier Conference Centre with 4 meeting rooms for up to 14 delegates, seminar room for 50 delegates and a conference room for 120 delegates. There is also a media conference room with additional facilities.

Two of the lifts at the airport are Braille equipped. There are plenty of ramps and the shuttle running between the car park and terminals can accommodate wheelchairs. A golf cart service is also available between terminals to carry disabled passengers.
